Farming simulator 17 forestry mod8/13/2023 ![]() Giants is working with Deere, put out a Deere and Waratah forestry DLC and get it right. No skidders, feller bunchers (wheeled or tracked), swing machines (tracked loader) or tracked harvesters.Unless special effort is spent to clean them up, all they do is burn up computer resources. ![]() The wedges from cutting trees with a chainsaw are extremely annoying and worthless. Also, most replants aren't done with 1m saplings, but with 1/3m saplings Tree planting is tedious and the planter holds way too few trees.A full trailer of wood chips is worth 2x less than a dumpster full of wood pieces (IT runner grain box). Wood chips are a complete waste of time unless just want to just not travel to the sawmill as much.Portions of limbs end up caught in the wood chippers and can't be removed, showing up in a big suspended pile if you sell the wood chipper.Wood chippers frequently spit out small limbs, sending them flying everywhere.Tree limbs and smaller diameter sections of trees are ridged and have collision, which is eye-rollingly absurd when a 400hp tractor is stopped dead by a 2 inch diameter limb. All log loading grapples and forks have a hard time picking up more than 1 log a a time. The tractor mounted tree saw is too narrow and can't really handle trees on any kind of slope. There is no feller buncher outside of the skidsteer, which is basically worthless. There primary advantage of dealing with soft terrain is pointless as all the ground is concrete hard. Forwarders are worthless because they are slow and require loads to be loaded and unloaded twice. This equipment would need to be heavily tested to not be extremely annoying, with the user loading the log and the actual pull through and cut off part being automated. There needs to be knuckleboom loaders, cut off saw plus pull through delimber. It is literally $1K chainsaw and then a $400K harvester. ![]()
